Waterloo Regional Police are looking for a sword wielding robber following a bizarre incident early Friday morning. It happened at the intersection of Westmount Road and Queen's Boulevard.

A small fire broke out at Barra Castle in Kitchener just before 1:00pm. Crews were able to get the blaze quickly under control. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Final preparations are underway for the annual K-W Santa Claus Parade. The parate starts at 10:00am on Saurday. This year's event features 31 floats, 10 bands, and 6 inflatable balloons.

Police say Waterloo Region is dealing with a substantial illegal drug industry. Last year, the drug unit seized over $12 million worth of marijuana plants. Police also note use of crack cocaine is a fast growing trend among drug users. Drugs are also a driving force behind a lot of criminal activity.
